Dead line talk. :: 02/24/12 :: posted by Randy

Summery of what is happening.

This week saw the Jeff Carter trade come to pass. The Jackets finally got what they wanted, and it was the Kings who gave it to them. The Kings have to be serious contenders for the division with this move.

This move puts pressure on the other teams around them; the Flames, Stars, Hawks, even the Preds. The Kings now have a great combo with Richards and Carter in LA.

Well, the Blue Jackets got a great Defencemen and a first round pick in return. Not a bad return; at least they got a solid player plus a first rounder. I really don't think they are finished. I wonder if the Kings will make another push for Nash.

What did the Devils do? Wow, what an overpayment as the Wild get Veilleux Palmieri, Foster, and a couple of picks for Zidlicky. They must have really wanted Zidlicky. The price for defence is getting higher and higher.

Talking about Kings; I wonder if Bernier could be the next to go. Obviously, the Kings are making a huge push for the playoffs. I am just wondering if it will pay off.

The Sens will be a great team to be watch. I really think the Sens could use another top 6 forward. Could Bouchard from the Wild be a nice fit?

In Philly, are they really going to stay with the two goalies they have? They did a great job in picking up the two dmen earlier, in Grossman and Kubina. The price was high. But again, that is the price of Defence. I cannot believe the numbers so far this deadline.

Shall we mention the Oilers went to the bank for Hemsky? Two years and $10 million. I really don't mind the years, but I wonder about the price. He will be be able to help the young guns, and be the experienced forward that the Oilers need.

The Pens are going to be dangerous come playoff time if Crosby can get himself healthy. Now that Hemsky is locked up, who will they go after? They really could use another top 6 forward; maybe Pierre Parenteau from the Islanders? Or maybe even Brown from the Kings, despite the Kings going public saying that he is not available.

Talking about the Islanders; are they going to trade Nabokov? Or are they going to try to sign him? But what will the Isles do with Depiertro?

I wonder if the Bruins will stand pat? They need to do something. I feel they are not quite there yet. I really think Sarich or Hannon would be a great fit. They will also try to pick up another top 6 forward.

That's it for another week

Randy.
