Since this is near the end of the season, I thought I would hand out my awards for the NHL season. Coach of the Year Jack Adams Award David G. Tippett Coyotes
What a job Dave has done for Phoenix. Where would they be without him. He has been outstanding for the team, putting a system together that has been successful. Dave has gotten the best out of his players, and they are in a battle for the division and conference. MVP (Heart Memorial Trophy) Steven Stamkos
This award is the hardest for me to pick. I have debated whether the award should be awarded to the best player in the League, or the most important player to a team; where would the team be without that player? I chose the most valuable player to their team. Steven has simply been the best player on the Lightning all season. His 45 goals and 20 powerplay goals are phenomenal.
Best Defensemen (James Norris Memorial Trophy)
Mike Green Capitals
Mike is, simply put, the best rushing defensemen in the game. He has a howitzer for a shot from the blue line. Have you ever seen this guy rush down the ice with the puck end- to-end? He is a pure skater, with moves like a jaguar on the hunt, a perfect defensemen for the powerplay. He might very well be the best powerplay quarterback in the League.
Best Goalie (Vezina Trophy)
Ryan Miller Sabres
The most consistent goalie in the League, Ryan is outstanding every night. If you ask a Saber fan they will tell you that without Ryan, the Sabres are not a playoff team. Miller is a shoe-in for the trophy. He is in a league all by himself. He leads the League in save percentage and second in goals against average. He is been the Sabre MVP all season.
Fan Poll Question
Who is your surprising team pick?
Mine is the Coyotes. I had no idea that this team would be as good as they are. They have been consistent all season. They are one of the best teams in the West, battling the Sharks for the Division, and the conference with the Hawks and Sharks. So who is your most surprising team?
Until next time, take care.
