Iggy really caused a ruckus when he answered a simple question. Really, I don’t understand why the media has made such a big deal over a simple question. He simply answered a question, on whether he would waive his NTC, stating he would if it made sense for him and his family. He said before he was asked that he did not want to leave the team, that he wanted to be part of the solution. Yet the media has made a big news story just because Iggy answered a question. He has never backed away from the media and is always a straight shooter. So let's put this to bed. I do not see any chance of Iggy leaving this team. He is simply Mr. Flame.

In Washington, the Caps and Habs put on a show, didn’t they? Wow, one of the best games I have seen, as the Caps and the Habs have an up and down Classic. Halak was fantastic all night, making 44 saves and leading the Habs to a shocking first game victory. The overtime was great with scoring chances left and right, finally ending with a great shot by Plekanec. It was a labeled shot. The Caps seem to bring the best out in the Habs. This looks like a wide open game.

The Vancouver Canucks and the Kings played a very good first game, in which the Canucks win the game in overtime. Quick was outstanding, especially in the first period, stopping 17 shots. The Canucks finally got the win in OT on a goal by Samuelsson off a great play by H. Sedin. Quick was very good. He has to be, in order for the Kings to have a chance in this series, making 41 saves in the loss. Game 2 of the series is on tonight in Vancouver.

I really have loved watching the playoffs games this year so far. The action has been very good. If the League really wanted parity at an elite level, they got it, as every playoff game has gone down to the wire. And it seems there is no easy series, which is making for some exciting hockey. And that's is exactly what the League wants. Which makes me wonder if maybe the League actually knew what they were doing when they put the cap in place.

This leads me to the poll question for the week: Has the salary cap been a successful experiment? Does the cap make it work for you guys? Are you glad the NHL made the decision to instal a cap?

Until next time, take care.

Randy
