Islanders extend Witt 2 more
years!
The
Islanders are seemingly done with free agency, but today they prevented
one of their core players from reaching the open market after next
season.
The Isles announced the extension of Brendan Witt through the 2010-2011
season. After his current contract expires, Witt will receive 3 million
per year for the following two seasons.
Witt signed a 3 year deal with New York prior to the 2006-07 season. In
his two years with the team, he's played 140 games and totaled 3 goals
and 18 assists. His best work has come in his own end though, matching
up against the opponent's top line on a nightly basis and proving
himself as one of the toughest players in the NHL. |
